Candy Meeting
At the beginning of the month, Tenino FFA held the very last of this year's themed monthly meetings. This meeting was centered around candy, candy, and more candy! Members met up and got to participate in and fun, active scavenger hunt that took them all over the school grounds searching for candy. They had fun clues, and an even better prize: more candy! Plant Sale
Thursday, May 8th marked another of Tenino FFA's wonderful annual Plant Sales. Over the last few months, Tenino's Horticulture and Floral Design classes have been hard at work growing and caring for an amazing array of plant life. all their hard work led up to the Spring plant sale. Various types of flowers and even a few vegetables were sold to the public. FFA members, as well as a few students from the horticulture and floral design classes worked at the sale helping customers pick out and load their purchases and dealing with the cash box. By Sunday, May 11th, the end of the plant sale, nearly all of the plants were sold and the FFA had made pretty decent haul. |
WAFFA State Convention
This year on May 14th throught the eighteenth, Tenino FFA took a whopping eighteen members, three adult chaperones, and two competing teams to the 84th Washington FFA State Convention. The teams that competed were the First Year Greenhand and Veterinary Science. While the teams spent most of their time competing in and practicing, other members attended leadership workshops. every evening was spent with 2,000+ Washington FFA members from across the state in Session. In a total of four general sessions, competing teams and individuals were awarded, chapter videos were watched, FFA talents performed, current State Officers gave retiring addresses and new State Officers were elected. From Tenino FFA, the First Year Greenhand team placed fifth in State out of 82 other teams! Congratulations to Amelia Hisaw, Matthew Rounsley, Garret Kaulkus, and Coulsen Chambers! They got to go on stage during Saturday night session to accept their plaque from the State Officers. The Vet Science team Placed 27th out of 43 teams. Good job to Jacob Gilbreath, Mary Cantrell, Courtney Pendergast, and Yours Truly, Jayda Jessie. Kudos to both teams for persevering through multiple tough portions of competition and limited free time. |
FFA Banquet
On the evening of Thursday, May 29th, 2014, Tenino FFA held our annual Banquet. At this event, dinner is served, awards are distributed, members are recognized, the year is reflected upon in a wonderful slideshow, and new Chapter Officers are elected.
In particular, congratulations Star Greenhand Matthew Rounsley, Star Chapter Member Terran Gilbreath, and Honorary Members Traci and Jason Gilbreath! Also congratulations to any member who received an award or recognition. As our old Officers stepped down, new ones took their place. Welcome to our 2014-2015 Tenino FFA Officer Team! As Junior President, may Matthew Rounsley actively assist all officers. As Historian, may Courtney Pendergast keep a record of chapter achievements. As Sentinel, may Baily Fisher strive to keep the meeting room comfortable and ensure that all members are welcome. As Reporter, may Jacob Gilbreath Inform the people that the FFA is a wonderful national organization that reaches far and wide. As Treasurer, may Hanna Hall keep and accurate record of receipts and disbursements just as Washington kept his farm accounts. As Secretary, may Molly Eckardt keep an accurate record of all meetings and correspond with other secretaries wherever corn is grown and FFA members meet. As Vice President, may I, Jayda Jessie, assist at all times in directing the work of our organization. As President, may Terran Gilbreath lead us out of the darkness of selfishness and into the glorious sunlight of brotherhood and cooperation. As always, will our Adviser Mrs. Maxfield advise us from time to time and base her advise on true knowledge.
Thank you immensely to our past officers, Terran Gilbreath, Hanna Hall, Molly Eckardt, Julianna Wellings-Miller, Yours Truly, Baily Fisher, and Riley Noonan for an absolutely amazing year filled with laughter, a bit of confusion, and most of all, a wonderful new family! Thank you also to the members who ran but were unable to join the officers team this year. Please keep up good spirits and remember that there is always next year!
