National FFA Week
February 16th- 22nd marked this years National FFA Week. Tenino FFA celebrated by hosting many different exciting activities throughout the week. Tuesday morning, the Chapter Officers got up early to make breakfast for any member who wanted to show up. Members came and enjoyed pancakes, sausage, eggs, fruit, and juice to kick-start their day and National FFA Week. On Wednesday, Tenino FFA took seven members to participate in district basketball at Winlock High School. Playing as a pro team in the double elimination tournament served to be a lot of fun, and ice-cream afterwards made it that much better. Throughout the week, members had the opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt. They were given a list and had to find things like a left cowboy boot, a signature from every chapter officer, the FFA emblem, and a plunger among other odd items. The winner was awarded Friday with a paper plate award for being the first to collect all the items. |
FFA Olympics
To close out National FFA Week, we hosted our monthly meeting, the likes of which were new to everyone. Thursday afternoon saw the first ever FFA Olympics in Tenino FFA history. Members met outside and participated in a few fun events. Even through the rain and hail, students did three-legged races, hay bale toss, a whipped cream eating contest, and mud sliding. In the end, everyone was covered in mud, but had a blast anyways. Chico
On Saturday, March 1st, Twenty-two members of Tenino FFA competed in Chico, California in multiple contests. Our advisor, Geraldine Maxfield, along with three parent volunteers took teams to compete in Veterinary Science, Farm Power, Best Informed Greenhand, Floriculture, and Horse Judging. The group left early Wednesday morning and arrived in Chico Friday afternoon. Along the way, we stopped at the Redwood Forest, the beach, and a few other fun places in between. Overall, the teams did well, placing around the middle in their contests and everyone had a blast. |
